Saving people’s personal information is shady as hell ?.. Hope the company burns

There’s a reason Facebook doesn’t mention what’s been updated with each release. It’s the same reason users notice no difference between updates: Most “enhancements” do NOTHING for the user but are engineered to collect more detailed information to about you for advertisers. YOU are the product. As a result, basic improvements go ignored. You can’t tag a page in a post, you can’t comment as a page. … both of which are possible on the website and very important to page admins. Pure and simple, this app is a platform to collect user data and deliver advertising.

It deserves a 1/2 star and that’s being generous. Constant updates that make it worse and worse. I’m not a social media fan so that negates 98-99% of the app’s utility for me. I follow a couple of local businesses and companies that interest me and that’s about it. The primary reason for getting the app was to make use of the marketplace feature. It was decent until FB decided to screw it up by interjecting retail ads in the middle of private individual classified ads. There was already a category well-suited and probably intended for retail sales but I presume there was little interest so FB decided to force it down our throats in the private classified ads section. Furthermore, FB is too intrusive and nosey. They are akin to Google in capturing all this personal information, usage data, etc. It is more or less spying. After I get rid of a few more items for sale, I’ll have no more use for FB and will be glad to get rid of it. ***TOTALLY VINDICATED*** FB is spy headquarters!

I’m having a real issue with my Facebook it won’t load my notifications or when people add me can’t see my profile the app is pretty much not working its useless now please fix this

Stop eating SO MUCH DATA. Or atleast have an option to CLEAN CACHE like all most apps do these days. Id move to another website but facebook is the only website that can be accessed free in my home country, where all my distant relatives are. I really hope you add this option. Thank you

I use to love the Facebook app until it started getting bombarded with ads, suggestions and these glitchy notifications that won’t go away no matter how much you clear them out. Please fix this Facebook!

The new update has messed up newsfeed. I have my settings on most recent. And yet all I keep seeing is posts from 5 days ago. Pointless. I saw those days ago. And the app size is taking up way too much memory.

It’s Official: The FTC Is Investigating Facebook This week is already shaping up to be another rough one for Facebook. This morning, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), a bipartisan federal agency designed to protect consumers and promote competition, is investigating the embattled company. Rumblings of such an investigation began March 20, when The Washington Postreported that the FTC was beginning an investigation into the social media platform in the wake of news of its involvement with Cambridge Analytica, a data mining company. However, WaPo cited a source not authorized to speak on the record, and an FTC spokesperson simply said the agency was “aware of the issues that have been raised but cannot comment on whether we are investigating.” Today, Tom Pahl, Acting Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, made it official. He released the following statement: The FTC is firmly and fully committed to using all of its tools to protect the privacy of consumers. Foremost among these tools is enforcement action against companies that fail to honor their privacy promises, including to comply with Privacy Shield, or that engage in unfair acts that cause substantial injury to consumers in violation of the FTC Act. Companies who have settled previous FTC actions must also comply with FTC order provisions imposing privacy and data security requirements. Accordingly, the FTC takes very seriously recent press reports raising substantial concerns about the privacy practices of Facebook. Today, the FTC is confirming that it has an open non-public investigation into these practices. The FTC Facebook investigation most likely centers on a 2011 consent decree Facebook signed with the agency,numerous news outlets have speculated. That decree required Facebook to get permission from users before it could share their personal data beyond the limits set by their privacy settings. Facebook may have violated that when it allowed Cambridge Analytica to scrape personal information from upwards of 50 million Facebook users without this explicit permission. Cambridge Analytica is now facing its own legal woes for how it used that information to influence U.S. elections. As for Facebook, the company has so far tried to downplay its involvement with Cambridge Analytica, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg claiming the company “already took the most important steps a few years ago in 2014 to prevent bad actors from accessing people’s information in this way.” However, that’s clearly not enough to satisfy the FTC. A single violation of Facebook’s 2011 agreement with the agency can carry a fine of up to $40,000. That means Facebook could be facing a $2 trillion penalty from the FTC for these violations — perhaps enough to bankrupt the company. Unsurprisingly, mere minutes after Pahl’s statement hit the internet, the company’s stock plummeted by 5 percent. It’s difficult to say how long the FTC Facebook investigation could take. But by the time it’s over, we should have a clearer picture of Facebook’s responsibility for the incident with Cambridge Analytica, and whether it was the only one like it.

I want to change all my photos from “Public” to “Friends of Friends” but for a few photos like my newest cover photo it’s not giving me that option.

Their new algorithm injects a "sponsored" (read ads) about every 4th post in my timeline. The occasional one every now and then was okay, was easy to just hide all ads from that page. But now its just ridiculous. And it wont let me block those pages anymore. Glad on my actual browsers I have ad blocking.

Face boon seems nice but pepole are getting tired of the same things and we never know what the new updates are abut also stop spamming articles on celebrities that died when it is not true unless it is from the sources also please update the Facebook logo to make it nicer and more modern. Please make reference book better and fun including messenger.

This app is horrible! Its always crashed but now you cant even read anything. I guess kicking you out of this review for an invalid nickname keeps the negative reviews low! Wow! How many people didnt get to post one? Fix the app!!!!!!! What’s up with all the pop-ups every time you try to read anything on FB? So annoying! There are so many most people give up reading the post! Marking them as Spam does nothing! FIX IT! Fix the newsfeed so it’s current news not crap from 2 or 3 days ago! With technology this site should be better than when it was started not worse!

New update wont even let me open the app. It immediately crashes before it even opens.

After I uninstalled Facebook app, battery life improved dramatically (although I wasn’t really using app that much).

Collecting call and texting information? Bad review.

It’s slow. It’s a waste of life. Ads are annoying as hell. Someone please make a replacement for this slow mess. We all just want to see our friends and relatives photos and updates. Not get spammed by robots with things we look at. No wonder people are deleting it.

Facebook is absolute garbage. I few months ago I kept getting post blocked for next to no reason and it was just kept coming to the point that I had to delete basically everything on my Facebook. It stopped after a while and just yesterday I randomly get post blocked again because a song I did apparently violated against the terms of service due to "disrespecting someones race, sex, religion, etc." WHEN IT DIDNT. It was literally me rapping my own thing to "Cant Hold Us" by macklemore a long time ago. NOW IM POST BLOCKED FOR A MONTH AND THERE IS LITERALLY NO ONE TO TALK TO, TO FIX IT!!!! They block you for 0 reasons. They don’t care about their audience and it’s a crappy app already. Mark is really a terrible CEO.

Ever since the update, I’ll click on a notification & it won’t appear. Until hours later.
